Customer giving allows customers to add their own donations to their cart using a variety of different widgets. Depending on the widgets you activate, customers can make donations before, during or after checkout.

Setting Customer Donation Options

The customer donation options are three amounts from which your customer will be able to choose.

These donation amounts can be seen on the Customer giving widgets outlined below.

To enable this option:

  1. Navigate to the Customer giving page and find the Donation options.

  2. Enter the three donation amounts you wish your customers to choose from.

  3. Turn on Customer giving but selecting the toggle next to Allow customer to give with their purchases.

  4. click Save.

Customer Giving Widgets

There are four main places in the customer journey you can offer customers the opportunity to add a donation to their order. These are:

  1. On the cart page - below the "Checkout" button.

  2. On the cart drawer - if you are using a cart drawer the widget displays below the "Checkout" button.

  3. During the checkout (Shopify Plus only) - you can position the Customer giving widget at any stage of the checkout process providing customer's the opportunity to add a donation to their order.

  4. After checkout (Shopify only) - after the customer has made their payment you can give them the opportunity to add a donation to their order.

  5. Anywhere in your store - Virtue's customer giving widget can be positioned on any page in your store.

This widget can be added anywhere on your store, but by default is added to your cart page under the Check out button.

Customers will be able to choose from three donation amounts and select the cause(s) you have provided. They are also free to adjust the donation amount in the cart, meaning they can give as much or as little as they desire.

If you are a Shopify Plus user you will be able to add the Checkout donations widget.

This gives your customer the opportunity to make a donation to one of your chosen causes while on the checkout page.

As with the Cart page customer giving widget, customers be able to choose from three donation amounts and select the cause(s) you have provided.

It is also possible for customers to make donations after they have checked out. The After checkout widget will appear once customers have completed their order.
