Widgets Not Showing? - Most Common Causes & How to Resolve:

There are a few reasons why the Virtue widgets might not be showing on your Shopify Page.

Please note that there are different reasons for the widgets not appearing depending whether you are using Shopify 1.0 or 2.0. If you are unsure of which one you are using, check out this article.

Summary

f you are unable to see Virtue's widgets on your store page, there are a number of reasons why that might be the case. Double-check to see if:

  1. You have applied the widget via Shopify's theme editor. For detailed instructions on how this can be done, check out this article in our help centre.

  2. You are on the correct Virtue subscription to display the widget you are aiming to display. Certain widgets are only available on certain plans. This is particularly common if you have just finished your trial period or downgraded your Virtue subscription. See which features are included in each plan here. For example, product-level giving is a feature of Impact Unlimited; stores can give from collections on Impact Plus. On Pay As You Give, stores can only give from ALL products; customer donations are not enabled in this plan, unless added via an add-on.

  3. You have deactivated your store. This can be unintentionally done if your payment details fail to process your monthly subscription. Double-check if your store is still active within the app, and update your payment details in Account>Billings if needed.

  4. You have set a schedule for your giving campaign, which is yet to start or has now ended. Double-check if you have set a schedule for your giving campaign within the app.

  5. You have other assets in your store's theme that are blocking the Virtue widgets. Double check with the relevant store developer or reach out to Virtue's support team - we can support further via collaborator access.

  6. You’ve reached your store’s giving limit for the month which is set in Virtue App > Store Giving.

Please note assets will not show on your live site until the App is activated and a subscription is selected.

You could try re-adding the widget or re-activating the app.

Not applied via the Shopify Theme Editor for Shopify 2.0 customers

The most common reason why the Virtue widget is not appearing is because it was not applied via the Shopify Theme Editor for Shopify 2.0 customers. We are required to keep our in-app toggle-on option for our Shopify 1.0 customers, but this will not apply the widgets to your page if you’re using Shopify 2.0. To apply the widget via the Theme Editor, check out this article for detailed instructions. Additionally, if you toggle-on widgets in the app and apply the theme via the theme editor as a Shopify 2.0 customer, it can create clashes and impede the working of the widget. As a result, we recommend to all Shopify 2.0 customers to not turn the widget on in the app.

Recently Downgraded your plan or ended your trial.

Our different pricing plans offer access to different widgets and product giving options. If you recently downgraded your plan or your trial period has ended, widgets that your current plan does not cater for will not appear. Additionally, if you used our collection or individual product giving options and downgraded your plan, the product widget will not appear until you amend your donation campaigns to your current plan.

Scheduled a future campaign

If you have scheduled a giving campaign in the future, your widget will not appear until the giving campaign has started. This can be amended in the ‘Schedule’ section in the app.

Activation issues

The widget might not be appearing if you are yet to activate the app. To activate the app, toggle ‘Activate’ at the top of the menu on the left-hand side in the app. Additionally, if you have had an issue with your current payment method, the app may deactivate as a result of outstanding payments. Once your payments have been rectified, you can reactivate the app.
